Informatics denotes an emerging discipline at the intersection of the computational disciplines with the humanities, arts, and the natural, biological, health, and social sciences. Largely fueled by the rapid development of information technology within an intricate socio-economic infrastructure, the way we do science, how we think about health care delivery, the mechanics of our scholarship, our forms of artistic expression, and even the pattern of our social and legal interactions, are changing every day.
